The courses of fire are a mix of USPSA Paper Targets and Steel challenge. $40 match fee which allows you 1 mulligan , how awesome is that. 150 rounds of ammo will get you through. You don’t need a gun light , but you can run your gun light if you want to. We will have light. You can run OWB holsters, battle Belts, and yes you can even run your CCW holster including Appendix IWB, BUT NO CROSS DRAW OR SERPA STYLE HOLSTERS. No holster no problem, start from low ready. This event doesn’t require the shooters to arrive at 5pm , it’s an open format, meaning you can arrive anytime between 5-7:45pm. This course is going to be fun and exhilarating, be prepared to run and gun, or at least move quickly. Multiple courses of fire will be used to improve & train fundamentals under dynamic conditions. We have added new drills not used in previous classes. Class is now 6 hours, used to be 4, this allows us to run more dynamic drills. We will start by reinforcing the importance of establishing fundamentals as a foundation from which we can operate and perform under stress and with an elevated heartrate. Drills will include reloads, multiple movements, multiple shooting positions, and cognitive thinking under simulated stress. These are high quality drills, with a low round count. 250-300 rounds is optimal , but even 200 will get you through. Multiple courses of fire will be used to improve & train fundamentals under dynamic conditions. Bring your rifle/carbine, two magazines, & magazine carrier (strongly recommended). Introduction to IDPA Competition Shooting with actual match stages and scoring. LIMITED TO 12 Shooters. This is a newly updated 6-hour course which introduces shooters to the sport of competition shooting, focusing on the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA). Course covers SAFETY, required gear, drawing from outside the waist band holster, drawing from concealment, shooting on the move, shooting multiple targets, no-shoots, hostage targets, reloading, and the aspects of IDPA. Course covers range commands and etiquette as it relates to the shooting sport. We will cover the various shooting divisions to include Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC). Shooters will shoot actual multiple IDPA competition stages, just like a real match, and the classifier stage. Handgun Fundamentals to improve on demand accuracy. This training session will cover handgun fundamentals in depth, with specific emphasis on Grip and trigger manipulation. We will work on pressing the trigger with half your finger instead of using your whole hand which adds tension and moves your shots off target. The overall goal is to be able to get hits on target, every time, without have those pesky “flyers”. To increase your skills so you can improve your on demand performance. A shooting/accuracy drill will be conducted at the beginning so each shooter can gauge their accuracy, and use the results as a metric. At the end of the session, we will shoot the same accuracy drill, so shooters can see and track their progress. In addition you will test your new skills on various steel targets at distances between 25 & 50 yards.
